The Sierra Leone Police (SLP), led by Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu, joined forces with the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), under the leadership of Chief of Defence Staff Lieutenant General Amara Idara Bangura, to conduct a long route march from Brima Attouga Stadium to Lumley Beach.
The large-scale exercise drew senior officials from across the security sector, including Deputy Inspector General of Police Sahr Yomba Senesi; Regional Commander Freetown West, Sylvester M. N. Koroma; Regional Commander Freetown East, Brima Kanneh; as well as Directors, Heads of Police Media and Sports, Local Unit Commanders (LUCs), Operations Officers, and rank-and-file personnel.
The exercise was undertaken in collaboration with sister security agencies, notably the Office of National Security and the Sierra Leone Correctional Service, alongside other key stakeholders.
Thousands of personnel participated in the march, underscoring strong inter-agency cooperation, solidarity, and operational readiness within the country’s security architecture.
According to organisers, the primary objective of the route march was to revitalise physical fitness, enhance cohesion among security forces, and reassure the public of their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security nationwide.
The event concluded with keynote addresses by the Inspector General of Police and the Chief of Defence Staff, both of whom emphasised unity, discipline, and dedication as critical pillars of effective service delivery. They assured participants that similar fitness and confidence-building initiatives would continue to strengthen collaboration and operational preparedness across the security sector.
