The Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media Empire has welcomed twenty university students from across Sierra Leone as part of its AYV Academy Internship Programme, a three-month initiative aimed at empowering young people through practical media experience.
Speaking on behalf of the CEO and Founder, Amb. Anthony Navo Jr., the Chief Operations Officer (COO), Mr. Messeh Leone, officially welcomed the interns and encouraged them to uphold AYV’s core values and editorial policies.

“I urge you all to put aside personal, tribal, or political interests and give your best. AYV is apolitical, and our mission is to positively showcase Sierra Leone”.
He further encouraged the Interns to respect the AYV workplace policies and Code of Conduct, attendance, punctuality, reporting structure, confidentiality, and also respect, teamwork, and workplace ethics, safety guidelines and equipment handling.
The COO strictly warned them against involving themselves in any form of unprofessional and unethical interactions, such as romantic affiliations with colleagues in the Company, which is highly prohibited according to the Company’s Code of Ethics.
As part of their orientation, the interns were introduced to the history, vision, mission, and structure of AYV, as well as its major platforms—TV, radio, print, and digital.
Veteran journalist Victor Jones delivered a session on understanding the media landscape, covering topics such as journalism, broadcasting, digital media, advertising, ethics, professionalism, and media laws.
One female intern shared:
“From the start, I’ve seen that AYV has strong policies we must follow. We appreciate the opportunity to learn, and I encourage my fellow interns to give their best.”
Another male intern added:
“Being at AYV is the best thing that has ever happened to me.” He thanked the Company for providing a platform for professional growth.
This internship programme is a key part of AYV’s commitment to youth empowerment, media development, and national transformation.
