A very senior journalist in Sierra Leone, James Bola Williams popularly known as Jay Willie passed on over the weekend in Freetown.
In a press statement, the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) announced the sad event which took place in the early hours of yesterday, Sunday, 31st August 2025, in Freetown.
Until his death, Mr Williams was the President of the Stroke Survivors Association, Assistant Secretary General of the Veteran Journalists Union (VeJU), and a member of the Guild of Newspaper Editors. He was also a former Board Member at the Independent Media Commission (IMC), and a former editor of several newspapers, including Premier News, Awoko, Night Watch and a host of other local newspapers.
May the Lord have mercy upon him and grant him eternal rest in Perfect Peace. Funeral arrangements will be communicated at a later date.
