AYV News, November 25, 2025
AYV Media Empire is proud to announce that Victor Jones, our award-winning environmental journalist and documentary producer, has been selected for a fully funded two-week intensive course on Air Pollution and Management at the prestigious Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana.
Following a competitive vetting process involving thousands of applicants across the continent, Victor was awarded a place in the African School on Air Quality and Pollution Prevention 2025. The programme will run from December 1 to 10 and brings together leading scientists, policymakers, and practitioners working to combat the rising threat of air pollution in Africa.
This academic milestone builds upon Victor’s groundbreakingenvironmental work at AYV, notably his 2024 documentary on air pollution in Freetown, which not only catalysed national debate and informed environmental policy reforms, but also earned him Best Environmental/Climate reporter for 2024/2025.
With this latest opportunity, Victor prides himself as the first journalist in Sierra Leone to be formally certified in this highly technical and scientific field, air pollution, control and prevention.
Speaking on his selection, Victor Jones said, “This is not just a personal achievement. It is a win for AYV, for Sierra Leone, and for African journalism. It strengthens our capacity to investigate, report, and advocate for healthier environments and climate justice across the continent.”
AYV congratulated Victor on this achievement and reaffirmed its commitment to empowering journalists who lead with impact, integrity, and innovation.
