Two journalists from the Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media Empire and one other journalist currently undergoing training in Egypt have paid a courtesy visit to the Sierra Leone Embassy in Cairo. The visiting team comprised Marina Terry and Memunatu Suma of AYV Media Empire, alongside Joseph Jenkins Bawoh of Home Times Newspaper in Bo. The delegation was warmly received by the Minister Counsellor, Mr. Kai Sonda Brima, on behalf of Ambassador Sadiq Silla, who is presently on official duties in Freetown.
During the visit, discussions centered on the journalists’ ongoing specialized training themed “Luxury Media Marketing,” which focuses on modern media practices. Speaking on behalf of the group, Marina Terry noted that the program brings together journalists from eight African countries and covers a range of topics including Content Creation in the Digital Sphere, Using AI in Photography and Montage, and The Evolution of 4th & 5th Generation Wars. She noted that the training aims to equip young media practitioners with skills relevant to today’s fast-evolving media landscape.
The journalists also shared their personal experiences in Egypt from cultural exchanges and visits to historical landmarks to engagements with media institutions while reflecting on the challenges and lessons learned during their stay.
In response, the Minister Counsellor commended the journalists for representing Sierra Leone and encouraged them to uphold professionalism, integrity, and resilience in their work, noting the important role of the media in national development.
The Information Attaché, Mr. Mohamed B. Kallon, briefed the delegation on the Embassy’s ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and Egypt, as well as with other accredited nations.
The visit concluded with a guided tour of the Chancery, led by Mr. Kallon. The journalists expressed heartfelt appreciation for the Embassy’s warm reception and commended the Government of Sierra Leone for its commitment to advancing economic diplomacy and promoting the nation’s image abroad.
