The Management of Miss University has officially announced the postponement of the AYV Miss University 2023 to a soon-to-be-announced date.

The postponement, the Management said, is owing to the current challenging security situation in the Sierra Leone.

In an official statement, the Management said: “We regret to inform you that the AYV Miss University 2023 event has been postponed. The new date for the event will be announced in due course, taking into consideration the security situation in the country.

“We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during these challenging times. The safety and well-being of our participants and attendees remain our top priority. Thank you for your continued support”.

The AYV Miss University 2023 Pageantry was recently launched at the prestigious Radisson Blu, Mammy Yoko Hotel in Freetown and was initially scheduled to hold on 1st December, 2023 at the Radisson Blu Hotel with the theme: ‘Beauty for Change: Unity, Dignity, Entrepreneurship.’

The Miss University 2023 competition is expected to involve contestants from each of the Universities across Sierra Leone, with a view to select a University representative.

The entire process is expected to be transparent and will be broadcast across Africa Young Voices Media Empire (AYV) platforms.

Chief Operating Officer (COO) of AYV, Messeh Leone said: “AYV is a credible institution with credible partners and investors like Africell. Africa Young Voices Media Empire is the official franchise holder and organiser of the Miss University Beauty Pageant as well as the official representative to Miss University Africa”.

Current Miss University Beauty Queen, Miss Mariyam Lorba Konneh said: “I always wanted to be a star that was she used the opportunity to showcase to the world what I am capable of doing. I was raised in a decent environment with a very religious and strict dad who used to have a negative perception about pageantry but after I educated him about it his perception changed and father and the entire family have been so supportive to me.”

The Miss University Beauty Pageant was first held in 2011 and is one of the biggest beauty pageants in the country, bringing together participants from universities in Sierra Leone.

The search for Miss University is on. Who will be the next Miss University?
