According to the Honorable Paramount Chief and his subjects, the two NGOs have been holding clandestine meetings with unscrupulous subjects and inciting them against the chiefdom authorities in relation with the multi-million Dollar investment of Socfin Agricultural Company in the chiefdom.

This is not the first time the Sahn Malen Chiefdom authorities and well-meaning subjects have complained about the clandestine activities of these misguided NGOs parading as the people advocate in their chiefdom deliberately aimed at disrupting the operation of Socfin Agricultural Company that was legitimately sanctioned by the Government of Sierra Leone in line with President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma led APC Government policy to attract more Direct Foreign Investment (DFI) to the country.

But both NGOs had been at the jugular of the chiefdom authorities and the Agricultural Company by hypocritically advocating for the subjects on the grounds that the subjects have been deprived of their arable lands on which the company is operating. Their controversial clandestine activities in the chiefdom have the propensity of undermining the relative peace and tranquility that exists in Sahn Malen Chiefdom.

Given the multi-million Dollar investment of Socfin Agriculture Company in the chiefdom, it would be economically disastrous for the country should these disastrous, clandestinely succeed in inciting the subjects against the chiefdom authorities for the operation of the company in their chiefdom. It is against this backdrop that Government should caution the two NGOs about their illegal entry into Sahn Malen Chiefdom to fan the flame of discord among the people of Sahn Malen Chiefdom. These NGOs claiming to be advocating for the people’s land have no business in the chiefdom but to cause mischief that would interrupt the operation of Socfin Agricultural Company. Some of these so-called NGOs are disguised opposition sympathizers who are going all out to set the subjects against the chiefdom authorities and government, knowing that the agreement that legitimized the operation of Socfin Agricultural Company in the Sahn Malen Chiefdom was between the Government of Sierra Leone and the company. These NGOs incitingly portray the chiefdom authorities as bad guys so that their subjects would buy the idea and rebel against them. These pseudo NGOs or Civil Society Organizations are not involved in any developmental projects in Sahn Malen but feign to be environmental advocates when they actually have a horribly incomprehensive hidden agenda aimed at tarnishing the good work of the Government of Sierra Leone and the local authorities of Sahn Malen Chiefdom.

Unless these misguided Non-Governmental Organizations are cautioned over infesting the minds of the people of Sahn Malen against the Government and their chiefdom authorities, they will eventually succeed in putting spanners in the good work of the Government and the local authorities and such nefarious act would have the potential to discourage foreign investment in the agricultural sector.
