The Bumpeh Bridge that links Bo and Mattru Jong is being temporarily closed.

The Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) said the bridge is temporarily closed due to a trailer that got stuck on it whiles transporting a heavy-duty machine from Bo to Mattru earlier yesterday 1st September, 2022.

The Authority has engaged the Engineering Regiment of the country’s Armed Forces to remove the trailer from the bridge latest this Friday. SLRA promised a full-scale technical assessment of the damage.

SLRA said will inform the authority on the rehabilitation that the bridge needs. The authority will commence remedial works on the Njala-Sembehun Road as an alternative.

The only route available for motorists plying to and from Mattru is the Taiama-Sembehun Road.

The authority said government has awarded the contract for the reconstruction of the first phase of the Tikonko-Mattru Jong Road and work will soon commence.
