Chief Justice receives President of the ECOWAS Court of Justice

The Hon. Acting Chief Justice of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Hon. Justice N. C Browne-Marke has received the President of the ECOWAS Court of Justice, Hon. Justice Edward Amoako Asante and delegates at the Sea Coach Terminal, Aberdeen in Freetown.

A team of fourteen (14) delegates including the Sierra Leonean Judge of the ECOWAS Court of Justice Hon. Justice Mohammed Sengu Koroma, the Chief Registrar Dr. Yaouza Oura-Sama and others are in the country to finalize the country’s preparedness for the conference slated for 13th to 16th May 2024 at the Freetown International Conference Centre, Aberdeen.

Welcoming the team, the Hon. Justice Browne-Marke expressed delight that the President and his team arrived safely in readiness for the conference.

Reacting to the warm reception, the ECOWAS President, Hon. Justice Edward Amoako Asante said, “My Lord, I am delighted that yourself are here to receive us,” adding, “I feel honored whenever I’m in Sierra Leone.”

He said at his first visit some two weeks ago, he was received by Hon. Justice Glenna Thompson (JSC) one of the senior Supreme Court judges who doubles as Chairperson of the National Coordinating Committee for the ECOWAS International Conference.

He described the reception as “soul-touching,” which he said indicates that the conference will be excellent.

“My Lord I am very certain that the invited Hon. Chief Justices, other judges and Ministers of Justice of member states who will be here latest Sunday 12th May, 2024, will obviously receive same.” the President anticipated.

The welcoming team also included the Hon. Justice, Justice Eku E. Roberts (JSC), Hon. Justice Glenna Thompson (JSC), Hon. Justice A. Sheriff (J), Magistrate Isata Sellu-Tucker, Magistrate Ladonnette O. V Macauley.
