Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh, yesterday paid an inspection visit to the Juba Military Barracks to assess the living and working conditions of military personnel and their families, bringing renewed focus to long-standing welfare concerns within the facility.
During the visit, the Head of the Barracks candidly outlined the challenges confronting the base, stressing that the current state of infrastructure falls far below what is expected of a modern military installation.
He highlighted the absence of basic amenities, including functional toilet facilities, access to safe drinking water, and adequate school facilities for children living within the barracks.
According to the military leadership, these shortcomings have placed significant strain on personnel and their families, who continue to serve under difficult conditions.
