In the pursuit of Sierra Leone’s unwavering strong commitment to the maintenance of global peace and security, the country’s Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh will participate at the UN Security Council quarterly open debate on the “Situation in the Middle East including the Palestinian Question”, convened at the Ministerial level in UN Security Council .

French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Stéphane Séjourné is expected to chair the meeting. Secretary-General, António Guterres is expected to brief the Council.

Dr. Sengeh said: “As Chief Minister of Sierra Leone, I will attend the UN Security Council’s open debate on the situation in the Middle East convened at the Ministerial level (23 Jan 2024). We remain unequivocal that for regional stability, global peace, and security, we need to end the hostilities and pursue a durable solution based on diplomatic dialogue”.

The Chief Minister expressed Sierra Leone’s unwavering commitment to global peace and security. He emphasised the imperative need to cease hostilities and advocated for a lasting solution through diplomatic dialogue.
