Sierra Leone’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Hinga Sandy has said China is one of Sierra Leone’s biggest partners in trade. He said China has greatly influenced every aspect of national development, especially in the area of trade, agriculture, mining and education.

He was speaking at the Chinese Embassy’s Face to Face dialogue in Freetown where he used the opportunity to share his precious experiences about China and China-Sierra Leone relationship.

He thanked the Chinese Embassy for organising the platform where important issues relating to China and Sierra Leone were discussed, which shows how both countries valued their relationship.

He applauded the Ambassador and the entire Chinese Embassy for introducing the face-to-face platform, adding that, the platform is not only centered on people-to-people diplomacy but it has also helped to wipe out the stereotype of the local people about China.

Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Wang Qing shared with the audience some of the major events in China since the beginning of this year.

He said China and Sierra Leone are good friends, good brothers and good partners. After 52 years of development since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China-Sierra Leone relations have reached a historical high point and become a model of China-Africa relations and South-South cooperation.

Friendship between nations lies in the closeness of people. The healthy development of China-Sierra Leone relations cannot be achieved without the support of the people of both countries.

He therefore also, mentioned the roles played by the various China friendship Organisations to cement the relationship between China and Sierra Leone.
