“Journalism and the media are very important sectors for the development and growth of any nation and AYV continues to show professionalism and independence in their work,” said Zhangliang.

Ambassador Zhangliang said the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone has enjoyed very good relationship with the Sierra Leonean media. He said they are committed to continue with their support to the media through capacity building and exchange programs that are mutually beneficial to both countries.

“We are committed to continue with this engagement and committed to provide support to AYV and the media in Sierra Leone,” he assured.

AYV’s President and CEO Ambassador Anthony Navo thanked the Chinese Ambassador for hosting him and his team at the Embassy as well as recognizing the role AYV is playing as an independent media in promoting good governance and democracy in the country.

He informed the Ambassador that both AYV and the Embassy has enjoyed over six years of very good relationship that has been very beneficial to both institutions. He said the courtesy call on Ambassador Zhangliang is a commitment on AYV’s part to continue with the relationship.

“This relationship is very important to us, the Embassy has been very supportive to our institution so we will ensure that we continue to strengthen this good partnership,” he ended.

Ambassador Zhangliang who previously worked as the division director of the Department of African affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the deputy mayor of Rushan City in Shandong Province and the counselor of the Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom succeeded Ambassador Wu Peng as Ambassador to Sierra Leone.
