H.E. Chinese Ambassador Hu Zhangliang formally handed over a batch of COVID-19 vaccine along with syringes donated by the People’s Liberation Army of China (PLA) to the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF).

Hon. Minister of Defense and Interim National Coordinator of NaCOVERC Brig. (Rtd.) Kellie Conteh received the vaccines on behalf of the Sierra Leonean side.

Ambassador Hu said the delivery of the vaccine demonstrates the profound traditional friendship between the two countries and two armies, and it is also one of the concrete actions of the Chinese side in honoring H.E. President Xi Jinping’s solemn pledge of making China’s COVID-19 vaccine a global public good.

Hon. Minister Conteh said that the donated vaccines will help Sierra Leone in achieving final victory against the virus at an early date.

Senior officials of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Sierra Leone and senior officers of RSLAF attended the hand-over ceremony.
