The Management of Miss University has officially launched the AYV Miss University 2023 Pageantry at an event held at the prestigious Radisson Blu, Mammy Yoko Hotel in Freetown.

The Management has further announced that the contest will hold on 1st December, 2023 at the Radisson Blu Hotel with the theme: ‘Beauty for Change: Unity, Dignity, Entrepreneurship.’

The Miss University 2023 competition is expected to involve contestants from each of the Universities across Sierra Leone, with a view to select a University representative. The entire process is expected to be transparent and will be broadcast across Africa Young Voices Media Empire (AYV) platforms.

Chief Operating Officer (COO) of AYV, Messeh Leone said: “AYV is a credible institution with credible partners and investors like Africell. Africa Young Voices Media Empire is the official franchise holder and organiser of the Miss University Beauty Pageant as well as the official representative to Miss University Africa”.

Current Miss University Beauty Queen, Miss Mariyam Lorba Konneh said: “I always wanted to be a star that was she used the opportunity to showcase to the world what I am capable of doing. I was raised in a decent environment with a very religious and strict dad who used to have a negative perception about pageantry but after I educated him about it his perception changed and father and the entire family have been so supportive to me.”

Miss University Beauty Pageant was first held in 2011 and is one of the biggest beauty pageants in the country, bringing together participants from universities in Sierra Leone.
