He emphasized that the people of Sierra Leone will rate President Bio’s Government at the expiration of his first term in office base on services delivered in the 2018 campaign manifesto, and bountifully rewards President Bio a resounding second term in office. Mr. Leema made the statement whilst accepting Patriotic Personality Award and Laurel from League of Africa Development Students at his Gloucester Street Office in Freetown on the 22nd May, 2019.

The Deputy Internal Affairs Minister informed the students that his ability to look into laws, policies regulating the Internal Affairs Ministry has helped him to distinguish between his role as Publicity Secretary of the Governing Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) and the party interest, and his role as Government Official and national interest. He explained further that Almighty God and the Constitution of Sierra Leone have guided his operations.

Mr. Lahai Lawrence Leema educated the students on his service as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs by knowing where the law, due diligence, human rights and security issues come in. He maintained also that having the ability to rise beyond the limitations in the execution of duties, in order to establish stability for the good of all Sierra Leonean and non- Sierra Leonean citizen is very vital for the peace and tranquility of the State. He added that his work relationship is aligned with President Bio’s agenda. He expressed gratitude to Almighty God for giving him wisdom and leadership ability, and extended thanks and appreciation to the Africa Students for spearing their time to research and identifies him as one of the personalities in Africa for the Award.

Osikenyi Enyinnaya Osisiogu- Secretary General of the League of African Development Students (LEADS Africa) explained to the Minister that the  main reason for giving the Award and Laurel to Deputy Minister Lahai Lawrence Leema was because of his distinguish character with enviable personality. He elaborated that the other reason for the Award to the Internal Affairs Deputy Chief was to honour recognize, and acknowledge the positive contribution of Minister Leema to society. He commended President Bio for the developmental strides he has made in just one year, citing the developments as improvement in human rights, quality assurance in higher education, and the provision of Free Quality Education to vulnerable children. Mr. Leema was awarded with Certificate of Africa’s Patriotic Personality of the year, Excellence Award, dressed with Patriotic Personality Medal and Mandate Delivery Merit Award presented to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The LEADS Africa’s delegation was accompanied to the Minister by Thomas Gbabai- President, National Union of Sierra Leone Students (NUSS) and other members of NUSS.
