Tragic news shook the nation as the newly appointed Deputy Inspector General of the Sierra Leone Police Force, Augustine M. Kailie, was announced dead.

The somber announcement came on January 28, 2024.

Augustine Kailie, until his untimely passing, held the esteemed position of Deputy Inspector General of Police.

Prior to this role, he demonstrated exemplary leadership as the Chief of the African Union Multinational Police Force in Somalia. Notably, he oversaw the intricate operational planning and security measures during the recent parliamentary and presidential elections in Somalia.

With a wealth of experience in various command and operational roles within Sierra Leone, Augustine Kailie was a distinguished figure in the nation’s law enforcement community. His academic achievements were equally impressive, boasting a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Peace Development Studies from the renowned Fourah Bay College.

The sudden loss of Augustine M. Kailie has left a void in both the Sierra Leone Police Force and the broader community.
