Former Cabinet Minister in charge of Social Welfare in Sierra Leone, Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden, now human and gender rights activist, has donated brand new computer laptops and sports medals for Christmas Day sports games and football gala at Mountain Rural District in Freetown.
The donation was done by Dr. Blyden’s elder sister, Reverend Babsy Blyden Kaye in the presence of the Village Headmen and elected Councillor. She said the Sports Medals in memory of Prof. Solomon “Jolliboy” Pratt (my late Grandpa) and the Mrs. Jolliminah Blyden (my late Mum).
Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden said: “Memorial Laptops for the Best Male and Best Female Athletes at this year’s annual Christmas Day Sports games for Mountain Rural District were today (December 15th) handed over at the Leicester Community Center by my sister, Reverend Minister Babsy Blyden Kaye on behalf of Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden to the mountain rural community people since I am away from the country.
“This is the 20th Anniversary of the always exciting annual mountain sports that has consistently been sponsored by my humble self for 20 years now. This year to mark the 20th anniversary, there will be a Football gala played by village football teams. I have also supplied the Gold and Silver medals for the gala’s Winning Team and Runner Up”.
