Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on Climate Change, Renewable Energy and Food Security (PI-CREF), Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, has once again demonstrated his commitment to building bipartisan consensus in advancing Sierra Leone’s energy agenda.
At the sidelines of the ongoing Accelerated Partnership for Renewables in Africa (APRA) Investment Forum, Dr. Yumkella held a productive engagement with the leadership of the All Political Parties Association (APPA). The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation across party lines to drive energy development and safeguard national energy infrastructure.
Dr. Yumkella expressed appreciation to the APPA leadership for their active participation in both the Climate Resilience and Energy Transition (CRET 2025) Dialogue and the ongoing APRA Forum, noting that such involvement reflects a growing recognition of energy as a national priority rather than a partisan issue.
He urged the political leaders to take the outcomes of these high-level dialogues back to their respective parties and champion the protection of critical energy assets across the country. “Energy cuts across party lines,” he emphasized. “We all must do our part to protect and expand our energy infrastructure for the benefit of every Sierra Leonean.”
In response, the APPA leadership commended Dr. Yumkella for his inclusive and visionary leadership, which continues to foster collaboration between government institutions and political actors. They lauded his efforts to make political parties key stakeholders in finding lasting solutions to Sierra Leone’s energy challenges.
The association further pledged to work closely with PI-CREF, the Ministry of Energy, and other national bodies to advance energy development and ensure that critical infrastructure is safeguarded from vandalism and misuse.
Dr. Yumkella’s outreach to APPA underscores his broader mission of uniting all sectors, political, private, the media and civil society, behind a shared goal: achieving sustainable energy security and resilience for Sierra Leone.
