Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Fatima Maada Bio, has called on Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad to remain united and committed to the progress of the nation.
She made the remarks during an engagement with members of the Sierra Leone People’s Party North American Region, particularly the SLPP New York Chapter, during her recent visit to the United States.
According to the First Lady, she was warmly welcomed by members of the party’s North American region and had the opportunity to hold discussions with the New York Chapter on issues relating to national development and unity in Sierra Leone.
“It was an honour to be warmly welcomed by members of the SLPP North American Region, led by the New York Chapter. I was also privileged to hold a meeting with members of the chapter, where we shared meaningful discussions about our collective commitment to the progress and unity of our beloved nation,” she stated.
Mrs. Bio expressed appreciation for the continued support shown by Sierra Leoneans in the diaspora, particularly for the administration of President Julius Maada Bio.
She noted that diaspora communities play a significant role in supporting national development, adding that their dedication to the country remains evident despite the distance.
“It is always a great joy to interact with members of our great party, especially those in the diaspora who continue to support the development of Sierra Leone from afar,” she said.
The First Lady further emphasized the importance of unity among Sierra Leoneans, describing the diaspora as a vital partner in the country’s development journey.
“Our diaspora community continues to demonstrate that distance does not diminish dedication. Together, we remain united in our shared vision for a stronger Sierra Leone. We are one country, one people,” she added.
Her engagement with diaspora supporters formed part of broader activities during her visit to the United States, where she interacted with Sierra Leonean communities and stakeholders committed to national development.
