A cross-section of leading comedians from Freetown East, has today paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Youth Affairs, Ibrahim Sannoh, at his Scan drive office.

The delegation, introduced by Ambassador Umar Fuad Bawoh, Board Member of the National Youth Commission, presented a case to the Minister, expressing the comedians desire to actively participate in the ongoing national campaign against the abuse of Kush and other harmful substances.

Ambassador Bawoh emphasised that the comedians, whose works enjoy massive followings across the country, believe their craft can serve as a powerful tool to spread anti-drug messages, particularly among the youth.

Welcoming the delegation, Minister Sannoh commended their initiative and lauded the important role entertainersplay in shaping public opinion. With a warm smile, he humorously admitted that he often relaxes by watching popular comedy skits from Sara D Great, Sirgin, and Kosombo, citing titles such as, “Sara Lee and Crazy Landlord as personal favorites. He praised the creativity and storylines behind their productions.

Minister Sannoh thanked the comedians for stepping forward to support the national fight against Kush, assuring them of the Ministry’s full backing. “The time is now,” he emphasised. “We must use every platform, including entertainment, to save our young people and rebuild a healthy, hopeful Sierra Leone.”
