The Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chairman of the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL), Edmond Sylvester Alpha, together with fellow commissioners, paid a courtesy visit to the Office of National Security (ONS) at its Tower Hill headquarters as part of preparations for the 2028 Multi-Tier Elections.
The engagement centred on strengthening election security through enhanced risk assessment and early-warning systems, improved inter-agency coordination, and measures to address emerging digital threats. Both parties discussed steps to safeguard citizens’ rights to participate freely and securely in the democratic process.
Chairman Alpha emphasised that a secure electoral environment is fundamental to credible elections and reaffirmed ECSL’s commitment to close collaboration with security partners to ensure the 2028 general election is peaceful, inclusive and trusted by all Sierra Leoneans.
