Fatima Kamara, representing the Fourah Bay College (FBC) is winner of the AYV Miss University 2023/24 Pageantry.

Fatima won herself a brand new Suzuki Swift Car. She will be representing Sierra Leone at the global stage in Miss University Africa Pageant and has secured herself a year’s work placement at the AYV Media Empire.

Nine finalists were announced at the beginning of Friday night’s proceedings but Fatima won the crown, leaving Sheknatu Bangura of the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS) winning First Runner-Up and Amzartu Kadiatu Conteh, also of the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS) Runner-Up.

Fatima Kamara’s victory came as a result of her impressive performance during the pageantry event. Her poise, intelligence, and charisma left an indelible mark on the judges and audience alike. As the winner, she was awarded a brand new car as her prize. The presentation of the award was graced by none other than the First Lady of Sierra Leone, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio.

Dr. Fatima Maada Bio commended AYV Media Empire for creating such a platform that not only celebrates young women but also encouraged them to contribute positively to nation-building. She encouraged all contestants to take advantage of their education and use it to make meaningful impacts in their communities and beyond. The First Lady further expressed her appreciation for AYV Media Empire’s commitment to promoting positive values among young people in Sierra Leone.

The annual pageantry event organised by AYV Media Empire has become a much-anticipated event in the academic calendar of universities in Sierra Leone. It provides an opportunity for young women to showcase their talents and abilities while promoting unity among students from different universities. The event also serves as a reminder that education is a powerful tool that can be used to transform lives and contribute to national development.

Born on August 11, 2000, in Freetown, Sierra Leone, Fatima Kamara is a 23-year-old Sierra Leonean model, seamstress, make-up artist and third-year student studying Communications Media and Information Studies at the Fourah Bay College.

Fatima Kamara stands as a blend of creativity and resilience. Her journey began in Freetown, Sierra Leone, where she was born into a family filled with love and ambition.

Currently a third-year student at the Faculty of Communications, Media and Information Studies. Fatima is a dedicated scholar, she combines her academic pursuits with a vibrant career as a seamstress, makeup artist and hair stylist. Her ability to blend the world of fashion and beauty is a testament to her versatility.

Fatima’s life has been a tapestry of experiences, each adding a unique thread to her story. From her early years in Freetown to her pursuit of higher education, she has encountered challenges with grace and determination. These experiences have shaped her into the remarkable individual she is today. She participated in the Miss FBC 2023 pageant where she took first runner-up.

Fatima has made significant strides in her chosen fields. As a seamstress, she weaves threads of creativity into stunning garments. Her makeup artistry and hairstyling skills transform individuals, enhancing their natural beauty. She is a true artist in every sense.

Fatima’s dreams reach far and wide. She aspires to be an activist, using her voice to drive positive change in her community. Additionally, she aims to become a prominent figure in the field of media, sharing stories that matter. Her ultimate goal is to become a lawyer, advocating for justice and equality.

Fatima draws her inspiration from her father, Mr. Musa Kamara. His dedication to their family, his tireless efforts, and his role as both a mother and father figure have instilled in her a deep sense of determination and gratitude. His unwavering support has been the cornerstone of her journey.
