Freetown City Council (FCC) councillors have completed a week-long computer literacy training programme aimed at enhancing their digital competencies and improving service delivery to communities across the municipality.
The training forms part of the Council’s Transform Freetown, Transforming Lives agenda, which places strong emphasis on expanding access to digital skills and strengthening institutional capacity.
The programme provided councillors with practical training in the Microsoft Office Suite, equipping them with essential digital tools to improve communication, data management, documentation and administrative efficiency in the execution of their official responsibilities.
Speaking on the initiative, FCC leadership noted that strengthening the digital capacity of councillors is a critical step towards ensuring more efficient, responsive and accountable local governance. The newly acquired skills are expected to enhance councillors’ ability to engage with constituents, manage information effectively and deliver services more efficiently.
The Council also expressed appreciation to SBTS Group for providing the training at no cost, describing the company’s contribution as a significant investment in capacity building and local governance.
The initiative underscores FCC’s continued commitment to empowering elected representatives through skills development, innovation and technology as part of its broader vision of transforming Freetown and improving the lives of residents.
