Sierra Leone’s First Lady and President of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development(OAFLAD), Fatima Maada Bio, has arrived at a high-level side event held during the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70).
The event, which brings together global leaders, advocates, and policymakers, is focused on the theme “Access to Justice for Survivors of Sexual Violence Through Digital Technology and Tools.”
Dr. Bio joined other international stakeholders to discuss innovative approaches to supporting survivors of sexual violence, particularly through the use of digital platforms and technological tools that can improve reporting mechanisms, legal support, and access to justice.
The gathering forms part of the broader activities at CSW70, where governments, civil society organisations, and development partners are exploring practical solutions to strengthen the protection of women and girls while advancing gender equality worldwide.
As President of OAFLAD, Dr. Bio has been actively advocating for stronger policies and programmes that address sexual and gender-based violence, as well as initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and protection of women and girls across Africa.
