The First Lady of Sierra Leone, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, has encouraged young women across the country to believe in themselves and pursue leadership opportunities with confidence and determination.
She made the call during a public lecture held at the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) under the theme: “Women in Leadership: Breaking Barriers, Building the Future.”
Addressing students and guests at the event, Dr. Fatima Bio emphasised the importance of focus, resilience, and strong moral values, particularly for young women aspiring to leadership positions.
She urged students to remain determined in their pursuits and to associate themselves with individuals who demonstrate integrity, discipline, and positive values.
The First Lady also described university students as the future leaders of Sierra Leone and encouraged them to prepare themselves for responsibilities that would contribute to shaping the country’s future development.
According to her, leadership requires commitment, hard work, and the courage to overcome barriers that often limit women’s participation in decision-making processes.
The lecture attracted students, academics, and invited guests, with discussions centered on women’s empowerment, leadership development, and the role of young people in national progress.
The event forms part of ongoing efforts to promote gender equality and inspire more women to participate actively in leadership and national development initiatives across Sierra Leone.
