The Ministry generated Le40.27 billion in the year 2015 which is over and above Le 30.5 billion generated in 2014. There has been an increase in revenue generation from this sector of about 8 folds since 2008. The Ministry was able to generate from about Le 4.8 billion in 2008 to 14.4 billion in 2010, Le 16.8 billion in 2013 and 40.27 in 2015.

To further demonstrate its unwavering commitment to promoting responsible fishing practices through good governance while contributing to poverty reduction and wealth creation in Sierra Leone,  the ministry has been able to generate over Thirty-Five Billion Leones as revenue for the period covering January – August 2016. This amount was generated through a number of sources including Licenses fees, Royalties, Fines, Import and Export fees, Local discharge and Landing fees. The expectation that MFMR will exceed its prescribed revenue target of Forty Billion Leones for 2016 Fiscal year at the end of this year is rife among management staff of the ministry. Recently in recognition of its outstanding perfomance the ministry was rated second in the National Performance Tracking Table (PTT) of the 2015 Result Based Management Ranking done by the Strategy Policy Unit in the Office of the President.
