German Ambassador commends Sierra Leone’s efforts in building an energy-efficient future

The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Sierra Leone, His Excellency Jens Kraus- Massè has commended Sierra Leone’s efforts in building an energy-efficient future. He called at electricity house where he further held fruitful discussions with Sierra Leone’s Energy Minister, Alhaji Dr. Kanja Sesay.

Ambassador Kraus-Massè said he was happy to meet the Energy Minister and the staff at the Ministry,noting that his government and private companies in Germany were keenly and irresistibly exploring the possibility of investing in Sierra Leone’s energy sector.

He spoke about the Energy Transition Dialogue that will hold in Berlin in March this year,adding that the conference is one of the largest conferences on energy.

The German Ambassador said he was pleased to invite the Minister to the conference with the view to making it possible for the two countries to exchange valuable ideas and to enable Sierra Leone showcase its gradual but inexorable strides towards the realization of her renewable energy dreams.

He concluded by informing the Minister about a variety of German energy projects and funding which Sierra Leone would benefit from.

“My government is working on setting up industrialized hydrogen production facilities through renewable energy to improve hydrogen from our partners. The system will be driven by a win-win consideration,” he noted.

In response, Energy Minister, Alhaji Dr. Kanja Sesay thanked the Ambassador for the visit and the assurances,stressing that the energy sector was always open to genuine investments.

He spoke about a list of  priority areas for his Ministry, including generation, transmission and distribution,renewables,solar street lights, and expansion and accessibility.

Dr. Sesay shared his country’s success stories in the renewable energy space,highlighted the challenges that beset the sector and the plans for the future.

With the energy sector and the Feed Salone agenda being inextricably linked,reforms continue in the sector.
