His Excellency Ambassador Sadiq Silla received a high-level delegation from the Republic of Ghana during a courtesy call held in Cairo. The delegation was led by His Excellency Prof.Justice Solomon Korantwi-Barimah, Ambassador-designate of Ghana, and included Mr. Mohammed Ibn Abass, Deputy Head of Mission, and Mr. Samuel Sellassie Sevor, Minister Counsellor and Head of Chancery. The visit followed the presentation of copies of the Letters of Credence by the new Ghanaian Ambassador to the Chief of Protocols, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Cairo, marking the commencement of his diplomatic duties.
In his introductory remarks, Ambassador Prof. Justice Solomon Korantwi-Barimah noted that, in keeping with African diplomatic tradition, he deemed it appropriate to pay a courtesy call on his Sierra Leonean counterpart. He conveyed warm greetings from His Excellency President John DramaniMahama to His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, particularly commending President Bio’s leadership as Chair of ECOWAS. He also extended regards to Ambassador Silla in his capacity as Head of the West African Group of Ambassadors, reaffirming Ghana’s commitment to active engagement within the group and to the advancement of the longstanding sisterly relations between Ghana and Sierra Leone. Emphasising shared continental challenges, he underscored the importance of collective action, dialogue, and cooperation among African states.
Responding, Ambassador Sadiq Silla warmly welcomed the Ghanaian delegation and congratulated Ambassador Korantwi-Barimah on his appointment. Speaking as Dean of the West African Group of Ambassadors, he highlighted Ghana’s valuable experience and institutional strengths, noting that there was much to learn from its administrative and diplomatic practices. He briefed the delegation on the workings of the All Africa Ambassadors Group (AAG), as well as on protocol and administrative arrangements, describing these exchanges as foundational steps toward enhanced collaboration.
The meeting concluded on a cordial note, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to sustained cooperation and mutual support. The discussions reflected the shared resolve of the Republic of Ghana and the Republic of Sierra Leone to strengthen bilateral relations and to continue working together in the spirit of African solidarity and collective progress.
