Sierra Leone’s Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah has informed of a forthcoming payment of an agreed upon twelve million dollars in coming weeks, signed off on by the Ministry of Finance, as part payment off a total amount of arrears of forty-four million dollars.

He also dismissed reports of the Karpower energy ship’s imminent departure from Sierra Leone’s shores due to unpaid debts.

Minister Bah refuted claims made that the Government’s failure to settle outstanding debts would result in the shutdown of the Karpowership.

The minister assured the public that the government has been dutifully paying Karpower a monthly fee of fifty million new Leones since the tariff increase.

He further emphasised the government’s commitment to ensuring a continuous supply of electricity to the capital by Karpowership.
