The Governor of the Bank of Sierra Leone, Dr. Ibrahim L. Stevens, joined staff members of the Bank who attended the prestigious Bo Government Secondary School, as they commence their week of celebrations in respect of the School’s 120th anniversary and the 97thAnniversary of the alumni association, The Old Bo Boys Association (OBBA). Referencing his long-standing affiliation with the school, Governor Stevens revealed that some of his close relations attended the school and that he has over the years followed the activities of OBBA with keen interest. Recognizing the enduring leadership role of the group in national development, the Governor wished OBBA successful anniversary celebrations.
The Deputy Bank Governor responsible for Monetary Stability, Dr. Joe Tucker, who is a proud product of The Bo School underscored the determination of OBBA to maintain the school’s ethos of academic excellence, integrity, national service and leadership. The Deputy Governor disclosed that this year’s celebrations are unique as they reflect the school’s rich heritage and its vision going forward. To showcase its tradition, the programme of events will include a Durbar of Paramount Chiefs and Cultural Show. Several infrastructural projects at the school will also be commissioned, among the many activities that have been scheduled.
Also celebrating with the OBBA members at the commencement of their OBBA week was the Deputy Governor, Financial Stability, Mr. Alfred Samah, who applauded the school for upholding its rich tradition and record of excellence, and looked forward to participating in the celebrations in Bo City over the weekend.
The Bo School was founded in 1906 to educate and raise future leaders, while the alumni association, OBBA, was formed in 1929.
