Sierra Leone’s Chairman, Presidential Initiative for Climate Change, Renewable Energy and Food Security, Hon. Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, has arrived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, ahead of this year’s Conference of the Parties (COP-28) Summit.

Hon. Yumkella will, on behalf of His Excellency President, Dr Julius Maada Bio, lead Sierra Leone’s participation at the mega climate event scheduled for 30th November to 12th December.

The former lawmaker is also expected to participate in several high-level platforms to discuss actions and plans undertaken by Sierra Leone to help the global efforts aimed at tackling the challenges posed by climate change.

COP-28 is organised by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the United Arab Emirates. The two-week Summit will bring together Heads of State and Government, international organisations, policy makers, civil society and the private sector to scale up climate actions.

Dr. Yumkella was received by Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Rashid Sesay.
