The Chairman of the Presidential Initiative for Climate Change, Renewable Energy and Food Security, Hon. KandehKolleh Yumkella, has paid glowing tribute to members of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) as the nation marked Armed Forces Day 2026.
In a message commemorating the annual celebration, Hon. Yumkella described the Armed Forces as “a pillar of national stability and a symbol of unity,” emphasizing their vital role in safeguarding the country’s peace and sovereignty.
“As we advance our national development agenda, their commitment to duty and country inspires confidence in the future of Sierra Leone,” he stated. “On this Armed Forces Day, I salute every officer and soldier for their service to our beloved nation.”
Armed Forces Day is observed annually in Sierra Leone to honour the sacrifices and dedication of the men and women in uniform who serve both at home and in international peacekeeping missions.
Hon. Yumkella’s message comes at a time when national cohesion and security remain central to the country’s development aspirations. He underscored that a disciplined and professional military is essential not only for national defense but also for fostering an environment conducive to economic growth, climate resilience, and food security.
The commemorative events featured parades, wreath-laying ceremonies, and reflections on the Armed Forces’ historic and ongoing contributions to national peace and stability.
