He made this assurance whiles formally declaring his intention for the flagbearership position of the All People’s Congress (APC) party in the 2018 presidential election.
The declaration ceremony which took place at the APC party headquarters on Railway Line in Freetown attracted party stakeholders, supporters and members of the general public from all parts of the country. Welcoming Dr. Marah and his team at the party’s HQ, the National Organizing Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Ahmed Bangura thanked Dr. Marah for demonstrating to the world that the APC is a democratic party.
He went on to say Dr. Marah is a true son of the party and that he has all it takes just like other aspirants to lead the party to the forthcoming elections.
He however cautioned Dr. Marah and his supporters to be mindful that in any competition there must be a winner and a looser and therefore should be ready to accept the outcome of the party’s forthcoming convention.
Addressing hundreds of supporters at the declaration ceremony, Dr. Kaifala Marah told his audience that he resigned from the position of Bank Governor because he has a bigger dream for the country.
He said he has been quiet since his resignation because he has been very much busy going through the Agenda for Prosperity so that he will know the achievements and shortfalls of President Ernest Bai Koroma.
Dr. Marah continued that having gone through the Agenda for Prosperity, he is now confident to endorse that President Koroma has worked more than all previous presidents of the country.
The APC flagbearer aspirant continued that he had worked with President Koroma for a very long time and has known all his development secrets. He therefore called on the general membership of the APC to give him the opportunity to lead the party so that he can continue the good work that President Koroma has already started.
He furthered that he has got a wealth of experience in governance as he has served in senior governance positions in the country and that include Chief of Staff, Minister of Finance, Governor of the Bank of Sierra Leone among other positions.
Dr. Kaifala Marah therefore referred to himself as the best candidate for the leadership of the party after President Koroma.
He however ended by saying that he is a very senior member of the party who believes in the agenda of the party and therefore will not in anyways object to the result of the convention even if he loses the flagbearer race.
