Sierra Leone’s Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, has announced that the Government’s Civic Day Series will be held in London on 18 June 2026 as part of efforts to engage Sierra Leoneans living in the United Kingdom.
Speaking on recent government initiatives, Minister Bah said the event will provide an opportunity for members of the Sierra Leonean diaspora to interact directly with government officials, discuss national development issues, and contribute to ongoing policy conversations.
He further disclosed that on the domestic front, President Julius Maada Bio will participate in the National Presidential Townhall scheduled to take place in Makeni on 30 June 2026.
According to the Minister, both the London Civic Day engagement and the Presidential Townhall in Makeni reflect the Government’s commitment to expanding civic participation and creating platforms for citizens to directly engage with national leaders.
“These engagements demonstrate government’s continued commitment to broadening the civic space and ensuring that citizens, both at home and abroad, have opportunities to interact with their leaders and contribute to national discourse,” he noted.
Minister Bah also highlighted key decisions reached during the 8th Cabinet Meeting held on 3 June 2026, announcing several major policy approvals across critical sectors of the economy.
Among the approvals were measures relating to the mining sector, cement manufacturing, higher education reform, mental health services, industrial investment, and manufacturing expansion.
The Minister explained that the cabinet decisions are aimed at supporting economic growth, strengthening public services, attracting investment, and accelerating the country’s development agenda.
Government officials believe that the approved initiatives will contribute to job creation, industrial development, improved educational outcomes, and enhanced healthcare services while positioning Sierra Leone as an attractive destination for local and foreign investment.
The announcements form part of the Government’s broader efforts to promote transparency, strengthen citizen engagement, and keep the public informed about key policy decisions and national development priorities.
