The International Moral Guarantors overseeing the implementation of the Agreement for National Unity have held a high-level engagement with key electoral and civil registration institutions in Sierra Leone as part of ongoing dialogue on electoral reforms and national cohesion.
The delegation, led by former Vice President of The Gambia, Fatoumata Jallow-Tambajang, includes representatives from the United Nations, ECOWAS, the Commonwealth, and other international partner institutions supporting the peace and reform process between the Government and the opposition All People’s Congress.
The engagement brought together officials from the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone, led by Chief Electoral Commissioner Edmond Sylvester Alpha, alongside representatives of the National Civil Registration Authority, headed by Director General Mohamed Massaquoi.
The meeting forms part of broader consultations aimed at assessing progress on agreed electoral and governance reforms, strengthening institutional coordination, and enhancing public confidence in national identity management and electoral processes.
Discussions are expected to focus on the implementation status of key recommendations under the Agreement for National Unity, including improvements in voter registration systems, civil data integrity, and preparations for future electoral cycles.
The Moral Guarantors are expected to continue a series of engagements with political actors and state institutions as they work toward consolidating peace, transparency, and democratic stability in Sierra Leone.
