John Oponjo Benjamin said that the party rushed into a decision that he did not approve. He said there are issues of violence in the party, which needs immediate attention and proper consideration for restoration of peace and tranquility in their party.

“…definitely I think they were in haste, I believe that when such situation happened in our party we should have established contact with our brother Dr. Kandeh Yumkella and know where the said suspension of his flagbearership candidacy coming from, I order  for us to understand his concern and establish ways to mitigate them.” Benjamin stated.

He mentioned that all they want was the best for their party and that they want to focus and united for their party as well as the people of Sierra Leone. He added that there are several things needs to be addressed as a party to ensure a free-fair elections, as he admonished his colleagues to work in the interest of the party and not to serve individual aspirant.

He reiterated that people must stop the violence in their party and start remembering that their commitment is to SLPP, as he stressed that to be the way forward of the party.

“Those who are in offices should know that they are not there for the interest of aspirant but SLPP at this point in time, you are not to be awarded the ticket because you are popular but because people believe in your capacity.” John Benjamin Mentioned.
