On Tuesday 29th December 2015 in the city of Bo women of different backgrounds graced the launching of Julius Maada Bio Wing at the SLPP Party Office. Various speakers including Mrs Fatima Bio explained to the audience the objectives of the Julius Maada Bio Women’s Wing initiative and encouraged women to play active role in the development of women.
From Bo, Mrs Fatima Bio and entourage travelled to Kenema where Julius Maada Bio Women’s Wing was also launched on Wednesday 30th December 2015 at the SLPP party Office. In Kenema, Mrs Fatima Bio and various speakers re-echoed their same messages in Bo and also reiterated the point that women empowerment is very close to the heart of Rtd. Brig. Bio.
In Bo and Kenema, Mrs Fatima Bio and entourage were greeted with cultural dances and songs by SLPP grassroots women. In attendance at both launchings included female Members of Parliament, Women Leaders from constituencies to regional levels, women support groups and executive members of Julius Maada Bio Women’s Wing, United Kingdom, led by the chairlady, Mrs Bernadette W. Songa. The head of the Julius Maada Bio Women’s Wing in Sierra Leone is Hon. Emma Kowa.
It can be recalled on Tuesday 22nd December 2015, in a colourful event at the national party headquarters in Freetown, the Julius Maada Bio Women’s Wing, United Kingdom, donated Le 100 million to the Julius Maada Bio Women’s Wing Sierra Leone as part of efforts to promote women empowerment and propagate Rtd. Brig. Bio’s vision for women in Sierra Leone.
In a separate development on Tuesday 29th December 2015, young aspiring women formally launched their group, “FRIENDS OF FATIMA MAADA BIO” in Bo. The group consists mainly of female university students and the launching ceremony signaled the growing popularity of Mrs Fatima Bio amongst women in Sierra Leone. The launching ceremony was graced by Rtd. Brig. Bio, SLPP Bo District Chairman, Alhaji Kanja Sesay, Members of Parliament, National Officers of the SLPP, members of Julius Maada Bio Women’s Wing, United Kingdom, members of Julius Maada Bio Global Support Group and grassroots members.
