The Minister enphaised the importance of establishing a Sierra Leone Embassy in Australia, stating it will be a significant step forward for Sierra Leonean national interests in the Oceania region. This initiative he said would not only signify a strengthening of diplomatic relations but also enhance the representation of Sierra Leonean citizens residing in or visiting Australia.
“One of the primary roles of an embassy is to serve as a formal representation of a country and its interests. For Sierra Leone, having a presence in Australia enables it to engage more effectively in political, economic, and cultural exchanges. Australia is a key player in international diplomacy and trade, and by establishing an embassy, Sierra Leone can better advocate for its national priorities and policies on a global platform”, the minister said.
Sierra Leoneans living in Australia, whether students, professionals, or families, often face various challenges, including legal issues, documentation, and emergencies. An embassy would provide essential services such as visa processing, consular support, and legal assistance. This support is vital for fostering a sense of security and community among Sierra Leoneans.
Minister Kabba encouraged the attendees to take an active role in promoting Sierra Leone’s positive image in their communities and urged them to remain engaged with national developments.
