Welcoming the first lady and her entourage in Luawa chiefdom, Kailahun district, the Deputy Chairperson of the Kailahun District Council, Madam Nancy Coomber, expresses her heartfelt gratefulness to madam Fatima Bio on behalf of the people especially women of Kailahun district who have longed yearn to be part of the first lady’s watch through the campaign.

She said the essence of the Hands Off Our Girls Campaign cannot be overemphasize and as a council, they will try within their powers to compliment the effort of Madam Fatima Bio and her husband, H.E Bio.

She admonished the women present to join the fight against sexual abuses on their children and they must be vigilant to report at all-time such cases be it with them, a family member or a neighbor.

“Parents must at all-time ensure their girl child is protected especially those at a very tender age. Girls should not be used as shield for money making purposes”, she said.

“She appealed to the first lady for the provision of logistics to the vibrant women groups within district who are eager to make the campaign a success in the district”, she concluded.

The President of the Kailahun Women in Governance, Madam Lucy Foray Gondor, said the Kailahun Women in Governance Group is women group which is formed to champion the course of women activities within the district. She intimated that, the group clearly frowns at a society which devalues women as their mandate is to yearn for society wherein women are included for the general good.

Madam Gondor assured the first lady her organisation’s support towards the fight against the indiscriminate sexual offences on girls.

 Honourable Wuatta Songa of Constituency 008 in Kailahun district, in making a statement on behalf of her constituents and other parliamentarians within the district, she assured the first lady of herself, colleague MPs and the people of Kailahun desire to see the Hands Off Our Girls Campaign becomes a successful one in the district.

She said in complimenting here strides, parliament at sometimes this year amended the 2012 sexual offences act (sec 6) making it a strong towards the fight against sexual violence.

Madam Songa further on lauds the first lady for her relentless fight to see the laws passed in parliament, are implemented judiciously for good of our Sierra Leonean girls.

The Resident Minister East, Andrew Fatorma, in his brief statement, commended the first lady for her firm stance to support her husband the President ideologies in making Sierra Leone a better state.

He said, as a man he feels disheartening to hear the news of men’s sexual urge on young girls. He admonished the girls who are aspiring to be role models in the future to reject whatever approach they gave from men though he said it takes courage and self-belief.

The Minister of State East called on men to distance themselves from girls who supposed to be their daughters.

“We assure the First Lady Madam Fatima Bio of our great determination in the fight against sexual penetration and other related sexual activities against girls”, he affirmed.

Paramount of Luawa chiefdom, PC Mohamed Sama Kailondo, praises the first lady for her courage and enthusiasm to protect girls in Sierra Leone. He assures Madam Fatima Bio and her entourage of his chiefdom’s commitment to eradicate the sexual menaces against the girl child.

Launching the Hands Off Our Girls Campaign in Kailahun district, the girl right defender as she is called, Her Excellency Fatima Bio, greeted chiefs and stakeholders of the district whom she described as mothers and fathers whose help she went to Kailahun to sought for the sake of Sierra Leonean girls.

She discouraged the girls from the excesses of men which has been detrimental to their course of actualising their dreams.

She asked on the Paramount Chiefs of Kailahun from the various chiefdoms to be champions of the Hands Off Our Girls Campaign in the Kailahun district.
