Kingho Mining Company Limited has engaged and assured stakeholders of Tonkolili District of the company’s fullest commitment to implement more developmental projects in its mining chiefdoms. The engagement which took place at the Tonkolili District Council conference hall in Magburaka Town, Northern Province of Sierra Leone, brought together key district stakeholders, Government officials, management of the Kingho Mining Company and the media.

In her keynote address, Director for Community Affairs, Kingho Investment Company, Judith Kosseh expressed thanks to stakeholders and government officials in their diverse ways of supporting the company in its operations. She discussed about the Community Development Action Plan (CDAP), a Project which the company is undertaking in its operational communities. She noted that in the previous three (3) months the company had embarked on the renovation of a School building in Kegbema, Dansogoia Chiefdom; engaged in Women in Agricultural activities; construction of culvert at Sambaia Bendugu Chiefdom, building of the round-about at Mabonthor in the Simiria Chiefdom. She also spoke about the CSR Projects undertaken by her department.

Madam Kosseh spoke about the company plans for the construction of a skills training center for young people to capacitate themselves. She concluded by calling on both the government officials and district stakeholders to continue working with the company and be supportive on its operations for it goal to be achieved.

In his welcome address, the Deputy Chairman of the Tonkolili District Council, Alimamy Samuel Kamara thanked the company for its strive towards the development of the district especially in the areas of job employment and the establishment of some livelihood facilities in it operational communities. He assured of Council’s support for a successful investment by the company.

Chairman of the meeting who double as Provincial Secretary North, Semion Fathoma in his opening remarks briefed the gathering on Government commitment to attract better investment companies into the Country and such companies must be provided with all necessary to ensure the successful of it operations.

Local Unit Commander (LUC) of the Magburaka Police Division Alphonzo Fambuleh lamented on the good working relationship of his division and the Kingho Mining Company. He called on the management of the company to continue working with the security sector for security stability, whilst the Operations Officer for the fourth Brigade of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Force Major PJ Bakana assured of it brigade support by providing adequate Security for the protection of the Company resources.

Speaking on behalf of Paramount Chiefs of Tonkolili District, PC Alhaji Masakama Kanamanka III of Kholifa Rowalla Chiefdom plead for the Company to closely work with the local authorities in the district as they are key in the success of the company’s operations. He spoke on the essence of the maintenance of roads linked from his Chiefdom to the company operational areas and reminded officials of the Kingho Mining Company on the establishment of their Administrative office in the District headquarter town (Magburaka).

On his side, the representative of the National Mineral Agency (NMA) Henry Kamara, discussed on the NMA Act and called on the Company management to ensure they go by it for the smooth running of their operations. He admonished them to work with relevant Stakeholders and do perform their Cooperate Social Responsibilities.

Meanwhile, in another separate engagement, the team from Kingho Mining Company held a chiefdom engagement in Bendugu Town, Sambaia Chiefdom on Thursday 19th August 2021 to update stakeholders of the three mining chiefdoms on its quarterly achievements and to fish out roadmap through which the company will collaborate and facilitate development in the mining communities.

Kingho Mining Company Limited is a subsidiary company of Kingho Investment Company Limited. Kingho Mining is undertaking mining at the New Tonkolili Iron Ore Mines in Sambaia, Dasogoia and Simiria chiefdoms of Tonkolili District, Northern Province of Sierra Leone. It was the Government of Sierra Leone which officially handed over the New Tonkolili Iron Ore Mining site to Kingho Mining Co Ltd on 23rd September 2020.
