The people of Koya chiefdom turned out in large numbers for a colorful and historic welcoming ceremony, staging a lookout parade from Songo to Masiaka Junction to receive their son, Dr. Suphian Kalokoh, amid chants and jubilation.
Addressing the massive crowd, Dr. Kalokoh reaffirmed his long-standing commitment to political activism, good governance, and national development. He recalled his early involvement in politics dating back to his days as a PIPUL activist and student leader at Fourah Bay College, where he became known for organising political campaigns aimed at reform and accountability.

Dr. Suphian Kalokoh is a seasoned political figure with over 30 years of service to the All People’s Congress (APC). He has held several key positions within the party, including Constituency Chairman for seven years, District Chairman for three years, and representation at national and overseas levels. He also served as Chairman of APC-USA and is widely recognized for his community development, health initiatives, and advocacy for women’s empowerment in Sierra Leone.
In his remarks, Dr. Kalokoh emphasised the central role Koyachiefdom has played in shaping his political journey.
“Koya chiefdom has shaped my political life from childhood to this level. It is important to always return home to seek the truth and blessings of your people. Today, I believe this is the right place to formally declare my intention to run for the APC presidential ticket,” he stated.
He stressed that his service to the APC has always been open and consistent, working side by side with dedicated party members, not from behind the scenes. He expressed strong confidence that the time has come for him to lead, citing his decades of sacrifice, loyalty, and resilience.
Reflecting on the 2023 elections, Dr. Kalokoh noted that despite the outcome, he stood firmly with Dr. Samura Kamara from the beginning to the end—training polling officers and party observers and defending the party’s mandate.
“I want to reshape and restore Sierra Leone to its rightful path. There is no doubt that our people are suffering under bad governance. Together, we must strengthen democracy, reform the justice sector, ensure fair trials, protect women and girls, and provide decent housing for our people,” he said.
Dr. Kalokoh also addressed the current state of the APC and the nation, acknowledging the hardship faced by supporters following what he described as the fraudulent announcement of the June 27 election results. He described the period since then as painful and disappointing for the people the APC represents.
He recalled the five difficult years leading to the June 2023 elections, stating that the struggles endured during that time fuelled the determination of APC supporters. He emphasised that the urban poor, rural communities, and slum dwellers—whom he said have suffered greatly under the SLPP administration—remain the backbone of the APC.
Dr. Kalokoh urged supporters to continue engaging with comrades across the country, particularly those who have lost loved ones and livelihoods and are now struggling to survive.
“Many of our people are poorer today than they were before. We must renew our commitment and restore the lost glory of our party and our nation,” he said.
He concluded by reminding the gathering of the founding principles of the APC, established 64 years ago to champion the cause of ordinary Sierra Leoneans.
As the ceremony ended, Dr. Suphian Kalokoh officially declared his intention to contest for the APC presidential ticket, pledging to lead the party into government and restore hope, dignity, and prosperity for all Sierra Leoneans.
