A news release issued out by the donor stated that the action was geared towards capacitating Sierra Leone’s Labour Migration policy, the release further stated that the provision of the equipment was supported by the demand driven facility, and was implemented by the ICMPD within the European Union and ECOWAS, according to the release, the project was designed to promotes free movement of people within the West African territory,

 The document continued to state that Sierra Leone has largely been a country of emigration, and it also serves as a host country for migrants with majority of migrants living in Sierra Leone coming from a neighboring West Africa

Project officer, International Center for Migration Policy Development Hugo Tavares Augusto stated that the organization has been developing better migration policy that would benefit all in the whole region, he furthered that his organization is working in three aspects, combating human trafficking, promoting better migration management through borders, legal migration governance.

 He said they are partnering with the government through the Ministry of Labour.  He reiterated that they have been working collectively with the government on key issues to strengthen the capacity for labour migration governance in Sierra Leone, not only human capacity but also infrastructure.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labour Charles Tom Kamanda    said labour migration has become phenomenal, and for which he pointed out that there should be proper regulation to control the movement of people across the globe.   He reaffirmed that the country has been challenged with youth employment, as the reason which has triggered the migration of youth to another country to search for job and favorable conditions of living.
