The drama started unfolding in court when the fourth prosecution witness, Ekundayo Pratt wanted to tender the Civil Marriage Application Form, Certificate, Affidavit sworn to, Receipt of payments and the Special License and Addresses of the complainant and the accused in respect of the matter before the court.

Lead Counsel for Alie Kabba, F.B Kelfala objected to the tendering of the documents, on the grounds that the defense counsel should peruse the documents notwithstanding the fact that it  had been given to them for perusal and consultations with their client, as earlier stated by Lead  Associating Counsel for the Complainant, Mrs. Sorrie.

Magistrate Serray Wurie overruled the objection of lawyer Kelfala on the grounds that the documents were handed over to them a day to the hearing of the matter, and that lawyer Kelfala was just wasting the court’s precious time.

At this juncture, the first Prosecution Witness, who is the Administrator and Registrar General, Mariama Serray Kallay intervened into the rowdy arguments by craving the indulgence of Magistrate Serray Wurie to allow the defense counsels to peruse the documents for five minutes.

However, the continuous refusal of Magistrate Serray Wurie, angered Lawyer Gevao who wasted no time to inform the crowded court that he was officially withdrawing his representation due to what he referred to as setting bad legal principles in law.

He argued that as defense counsels, they have the right to peruse the documents in court before it is tendered in evidence, and that he will never be part of such a legal deliberations on a matter that involves two influential and notable political figures in the country.

Magistrate Serray Wurie however, condescend and allowed, lawyer Kelfala to screen the documents before it was tendered, after lawyer Gevao had deserted the court room.

Furthermore, the fourth Prosecution Witness, Ekundayo Pratt proceeded with the tendering of the documents relating to the Civil Marriage between the current Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Diana Finda Konomanyi and Alie Kabba, flagbearer aspirant of the opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party.
