The Legal Aid Board (LAB) has received numerous accolades during the past few weeks from multiple partners and organizations across the country for what they describe as the Board’s incredible and invaluable contribution in 2025 on issues bordering on access to justice, human rights and the rule of law.
The awards also singled out the Board’s Executive Director, Mrs Fatmata Claire Carlton-Hanciles’ positive impact in the provision of legal representation, for indigent persons across the country since its inception in May 2015. Others highlighted her commitment to professional excellence, and her highest standard of ethical conduct, integrity, teamwork and leadership expertise.
The awards include, one received from the Bai Bureh Heritage in Port Loko; another from the Ministries of Gender and Children’s Affairs and Social Welfare in Tonkolili district; the National Professional Awards in Freetown, etc.
