Minister of Internal Affairs, Morie Lengor, has called on agencies under his ministry to strengthen collaboration, improve communication and develop practical action plans aimed at enhancing governance and public service delivery.
Minister Lengor made the call during an inter-agency meeting held at the offices of the Independent Police Complaints Board (IPCB) in New England Ville, Freetown.
He announced that similar coordination meetings will now be held every two weeks to improve communication among agencies, identify and address institutional challenges, and monitor progress in the implementation of key programmes.
The Minister also directed agencies under the Ministry to prepare one-month and one-year costed action plans, detailing priority activities, required budgets, implementation timelines and expected outcomes.
He urged the institutions to prioritise realistic and achievable initiatives while maintaining proper records of completed projects, ongoing programmes, institutional reforms and other key achievements.
Minister Lengor commended the agencies for sustaining their performance despite financial and operational constraints, stressing the need for closer cooperation among institutions involved in security, justice and public accountability.
He particularly highlighted the importance of collaboration among the Independent Police Complaints Board, Sierra Leone Police, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and other justice-sector institutions.
According to the Minister, stronger coordination among these agencies is essential to addressing shared challenges and improving the overall effectiveness of public institutions.
The Executive Secretary of the IPCB, Rashid Kabba, welcomed the initiative, describing stronger inter-agency collaboration as critical to promoting accountability, transparency and public confidence in state institutions.
The meeting concluded with presentations from participating agencies on their achievements, ongoing programmes and operational challenges.
The institutions reaffirmed their commitment to improving coordination, strengthening institutional performance and working collectively to enhance public service delivery.
