The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has setup an administrative enquiry team with specific mandate to look into the Freetown City Councils (FCC) saga.

According to Minister Tamba Lamina following issues emanating lately from the Council, there is a need for the ministry to get an independent investigation into the issues with the aim of proffering solutions.

It can be recalled that lately, the FCC administration has been marred with controversies over, including disagreements between the Mayor, Chief Administrator and some councilors.

The ministry believes that this is ugly development to some extent, is posing numerous challenges to the effective functioning of the Council.

Controversies on issues ranging from allegations on the non-approval of projects to those of political will to support activities, among others, drew the intervention of the ministry to set up an enquiry team.

Team Lead for the enquiry, David Sheku highlighted their roles and responsibilities covering the investigation. He said all will be focused on addressing the situation within their giving mandate.
