Magistrate Court No.1 on Pademba Road has commenced proceedings of the court case on the alleged Ritual Murder of late Fourah Bay College lecturer, Kabba Santigie Bangura.

The accused murderer, Ibrahim Mohamed Kalokoh, a traditional herbalist former residing in Waterloo, appeared before Magistrate Mark Ngegba yesterday without any legal representation to defend him.

He was sent to prison by the magistrate after his arraignment on one count charge of Murder contrary to law.

According to the charge sheet, it was alleged that the accused on 6th March, 2023, in Waterloo, murdered Kabba Santigie Bangura.

Police witness on the matter is Inspector Paul Amara Makieu. He said he recognised the accused person in the dock and he recalled sometime in March 2023 whilst on duty at the Homicide Department of the CID, they received a transferred case and enquiry file from the Central Police Station, with an offence of missing person.

He said the file contained an abstract report, a request for the trace of call logs on sim of deceased amongst others like photos of the missing person and his missing vehicle which was one grey 4Runner vehicle with registration number ASM 939.

He went on that the wife of the deceased accompanied by her brother-in-law, Adikalie Santigie Bangura reported that her husband the deceased, Kabba Santigie Bangura, got missing, adding that later the said man’s corpse was discovered on 15th April, 2023 at Shebro town, Newton, off Waterloo in a manner that pointed to foul play.

The witness said that an autopsy was done on the corpse and it was conducted by Pathologist Doctor Simeon Owizz Koroma in the presence of a team of police officers together with relatives of the deceased.

The outcome of the autopsy is expected to be stated to the court by the Pathologist.

The witness was cross examined by the Accused Person before Magistrate Mark Ngegba sent him to the male correctional center in Freetown and adjourned the matter to 21st July 2023 for further hearing.
