The accused persons who made their first appearance before the magistrate on Monday 13 February 2017, were charged with the offences of conspiracy to commit a felony and robbery with aggravation, contrary to Section (23) sub section (1a) of the Larceny Act of 1916, as repealed and replaced by Section (2) of Act N0.6 of 1971 of the country’s laws.

According to their charge sheet, both accused allegedly conspired with an unknown individual to break and forcefully enter into the premises of the complainant, Alusine Jalloh, through his room window around three 3 am, on Friday 20 January 2017.

The complainant, who was led in evidence by Inspector Mansaray I.S. explained that he recognized both accused persons in the dock and recalled the incident of Friday 20 January 2017, adding that on the said date, he was rudely awakened from a deep slumber in his bed room by accused who had gained access into his room through the window.

He told the court that he encountered stiff resistance from the first accused, Sallieu Kalokoh, who staged up a fight with him, stating that he was about to overcome the first accused when the second accused, Osman Mansaray, dashed into the room before they eventually succeeded in carting away with his bag containing eight million and one hundred thousand leones.

During the fight, the complainant said the first accused pulled a scissors which he used to stab him on his head, leaving him seriously injured with blood profusely oozing out from the stabbed spot.

The witness further told the court that he managed to chase both accused persons together with his neighbors and fortunately for him, a team of police officers who were on night patrol intercepted them and arrested both and taken to the east end Police Station.

He said upon their arrival he reported the matter and a police medical request form was issued to him for medical examination and treatment, adding that the said police medical request form was endorsed by the police referral doctor and returned to the investigating officers.

The complainant statement including the endorsed medical request form was produced for identification after which Magistrate Kamara ordered that both accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road.

The matter was adjourned to 24 February 2017.
