The All People’s Congress (APC) Party will be hosting its Emergency National Delegates Conference in Port Loko and Makeni cities soonest.

This was according to the Party’s Acting Assistant Publicity Secretary, Mohamed Pope Kamara who said the party is expected to host its forthcoming emergency National Delegates Conference to adopt its newly drafted Constitution at the party’s new hall in Makeni city.

According to him, after conducting visits to several districts across the country to ascertain safe and protected areas for such a big event.

He said he looked at the number of rooms available, the amount of security personnel and also the number of recreational facilities and restaurants available to hold up to one thousand delegates and supporters of the APC for the three-day event.

Pope said Makeni was selected as the most suitable place to host the event following which a final decision will be reached by the party’s hierarchy and the 21-Man Technical Planning Committee set up for the event.

He said went on that after that convention, the party will then assembles in Port Loko for another Convention to elect its national executive officers, followed by the final convention to elect the party’s 2023 flagbearer in Makeni.

In another development, the APC yesterday informed its members that in accordance with Court Order No. 5 of Hon. Justice Adrian Fisher in the High Court Ruling dated 9th August 2021, which states:

The 2nd and 3rd defendants shall ensure that the elections for the 20 delegates for the women’s congress, the 20 delegates for the youth league and the five delegates from each constituency shall be concluded no later than Tuesday 31t August 2021…”, the Party will be conducting the elections for the 20 delegates for the Women’s Congress, the 20 delegates for the Youth League, and the five (5) delegates from each constituency respectively in compliance with the said court order.

The Party states that dates for the elections are 20th, 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th, 30th and 31st August 2021 in the Western Area Rural, Western Area Urban, North Western Region, Northern Region, Eastern Region and the Southern Region.

In the implementation of the above, the Party will be submitting a list of Presiding Officers and venues to the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) through the Technical and Planning Committee in due course, and approved Presiding Officers and venues for the respective conventions will be communicated to the membership accordingly.

Delegates Aspirants for the aforesaid conventions shall be nominated from the floor subject to the confirmation of identity by the Constituency Chairman or any senior Party Constituency official in the locality.

All interested registered members of the Party are encouraged to participate in the electoral exercise.
